Macular degeneration

Macular Degeneration (Age Related Macular Degeneration) is an age related disease which affects the retina. Whilst it does not generally result in total vision loss, the central reading vision becomes affected leaving the peripheral vision intact. This does impact the person’s ability therefore to read, drive and differentiate between colours and contrasts. With a growing number of Australians being diagnosed in the over 50’s category, early detection is vital to prevent serious eye loss.
